Snook, Redfish, Trout, Tarpon and more.

Fly Fishing FL is an Orvis endorsed guide service specializing in fly fishing and light tackle angling the incredible flats and back country of Charlotte Harbor in Southwest Florida.  The Harbor and nearby rivers to the north and bays to the south are a fly angler's wonderland. Whether gliding quietly across a shallow flat or sneaking through the mangrove jungles, fly casting opportunities for a variety of species abound year-round.

We love casting baits with light tackle spinning gear as well. A fun and productive way to fish the tight spots and draw ferocious strikes off the surface. Its a great "plan B" when the wind kicks up too. Light tackle also offers the opportunity for two sports to fish simultaneously which means more fishing time for everyone.

Whether you fly, spin, or blend a little of each, we are dedicated to a quality experience offering our guests a safe, enjoyable day on the water.

Guests are welcome to our quiver of top-of-the-line gear from Orvis and others, but there is always room for your favorite outfit on board. For more information please call, text, or email.

Shallow Water Fish Hunting.

Last year (2024) I began my quest for the ideal skiff. One that would float shallow but run smooth and dry. Not too pinchy but not too big to pole all day and that costs less than my house.

What I found was a well-preserved Maverick Mirage 17'2" from the late '90s. A proven hull design still in use today with numerous cosmetic and mechanical upgrades. Including a new Yamaha 4-stoke motor and hydraulic jackplate for added performance and shallow water capabilities. She is clean and pretty and rides as good as she looks.

The quietest way to enter the strike zone is with a push pole. Just a gentle nudge and the Maverick glides virtually inaudible in less than a foot of water, blending into the tranquility of the back country. Her broad foredeck is well suited for fly casting and stripping line, but light tackle anglers will also enjoy the stealthy approach and perspective of her pointy end.

I've added a super cooler/seat to keep your drinks cold and your ride comfortable. She has an insulated live well that makes for additional cold storage, remote controlled trolling motor powered by an ultralight lithium battery, a GPS/Sonar combo with more info than the farmers’ almanac. You get the idea, she’s now a “resto-mod” that’s simply a gas to fish from.

Go solo or bring a witness.
